About
Salsa Dance Marin Kids Dance Classes offers kids dance classes that include salsa, bachata, hip hop, and specialized workshops. The program includes Little Salseros and Junior Salseros classes, which group children by age for instruction in these dance styles.
• Ages: 4–9 years old
• Schedule: Wednesday afternoon classes for Little Salseros and Junior Salseros
Lucie is the owner of Salsa Dance Marin. Instructors include Fernanda Cedeno, who has teaching, training, and choreography skills and works with individuals of all ages and abilities, and Steven, who was trained under Latin dance instructors Mark Ellis, Pablo Dinamico, Jeffrey Michael, and Denmis Bain Savigne. Alex Lopez has over 10 years of experience in Ballroom and Latin dance, and Tyler is a two-time world champion in the professional Kizomba division and founded DsantosVT in 2011. Masha Savushkina is a professional dancer, choreographer, and teacher with 10 years of experience who trained at the Moscow College of Art. Eric is an internationally accomplished choreographer and professional dancer from Rio de Janeiro who spent 15 years teaching and performing globally and won 1st place in “Gafieira Brasil” in 2017. Abigail is a psychotherapist and certified yoga instructor.
The program states that it believes dance is more than just steps and that it is more than just a dance studio, describing itself as a vibrant community. It states that its curriculum is designed to be both educational and exhilarating and that it focuses on building confident and well-rounded individuals. The program describes its environment as fun, supportive, and safe, with experienced and passionate instructors, and notes that it frequently introduces new classes and that styles may include salsa, bachata, hip hop, or specialized workshops.
Families are asked to provide comfortable clothing that allows for a full range of motion, such as leggings, athletic shorts, t-shirts, or leotards, while avoiding anything too baggy. A reusable water bottle is recommended. Footwear should have a smooth, non-marking sole, with clean sneakers for some classes, and some classes may require specific dance shoes; dancing in socks is acceptable for some styles, especially for younger students.
