Bay Area Tutoring Centers Tutoring Programs offer individualized tutoring in math, science, English, language arts, history, and SAT/ACT. The program provides in-person, online, and hybrid tutoring with low student-to-tutor ratios in a supportive, comfortable, confidence-building environment. Students work with tutors in a private tutoring center that welcomes students of all academic backgrounds and grade levels, and many students develop strong, lasting relationships with their tutors.
• Schedule: Programs are available throughout the school year and over the summer, with many students attending ongoing weekly sessions and others scheduling on an as-needed basis.
In its 36+ years of serving the Berkeley and San Ramon communities, Bay Area Tutoring Centers, Inc. opened its Berkeley center in 1988 and its second center in San Ramon in 1996. Tutors are carefully selected based on their subject expertise and their ability to effectively communicate their knowledge, and they are thoroughly screened, assessed, and trained before working with students. The curriculum is tailored to complement the curricula of local schools and mirrors and supplements classwork by combining current concepts, review, and new material. The stated mission is enhancing the academic performance of students by improving their skills, self-confidence, and understanding of their subjects. Bay Area Tutoring Centers, Inc. has established close relationships with local schools and families, with most students referred by current and past students and families and by school guidance counselors, and it serves communities across the Bay Area and beyond through its in-person and online tutoring services. The program has no contracts or session minimums and no registration fees, and online tutoring is available to students outside of the Bay Area.
