BrainVyne Camps is an education company that provides STEAM-based camps and financial literacy camps for children and teens, including the game-based budgeting and financial camp Money 101™ and a financial literacy camp Money 101 for teens. Money 101™ is endorsed by the National Financial Educators Council and meets California Department of Education standards for math, literacy skills, and ELA, as well as JumpStart National Standards for personal finance. The program states that learning by doing is its motto and that it is an inclusive program that believes all children should have access to quality educational summer programs, and that BrainVyne gives children tools to utilize their imagination to learn, create, and grow.
BrainVyne was founded in 2013 by Rathna Ramakrishnan, a mother of two boys and an education enthusiast, who collaborated with LEGO® Master Builder Danielle Benedetelli to create customized content for budding LEGO® engineers. The curriculum uses LEGO® Education Robotics through content designed with a LEGO® Master Builder, and camps where kids make brick films include extra costs related to delivering the completed movie and tools for movie making, and no builds can be taken home. BrainVyne states that it has served more than 1,000 happy campers and that it hosts what it describes as the best LEGO® birthday in California.
The program’s well-trained, hands-on staff includes California-credentialed and California-licensed teachers, and each session is led by fully trained instructors and California-licensed teachers. BrainVyne also offers PTA fundraisers, corporate events, and library programs, and is hiring seasonal team members with training and flexible hours. Need-based scholarships are available for its camps.
Parent reviews describe experiences such as children building simple machines, motors, robotics projects, and Star Wars LEGO® builds like R2D2, as well as activities like pool noodle light saber battles in a Star Wars LEGO® camp. Testimonials mention caring and thoughtful instructors, small group sizes, instructors by name such as Maggie and Miss Chelsey, and children asking to return for additional days or sessions, including LEGO® Girl Power Robotics, spring break camps with motors, robotics, and stop motion films, and Money 101™ sessions that introduce children to concepts about money, spending, and saving.
