Charlie's Porch Tutoring Center is led by owners and tutors Hannah Pennington and Izzy (Isabel) Pennington. Hannah holds a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology with a minor in history from California State University, Channel Islands, and provides limited behavioral support. Izzy attended the University of California, Santa Barbara, where she majored in Environmental Studies with a focus in environmental justice. The program’s stated goal is to create a learning environment full of kindness, acceptance, growth, and memories.

Parent testimonials describe the center as bright, safe, clean, inviting, modern, and full of color and personality, and note experiences with both Hannah and Izzy as tutors. One 3rd grade parent reports that Hannah provides structure and support for an autistic child and that the child is excited to attend sessions. A 7th grade parent describes tutors who learn the specific curriculum for each class, set up lesson plans, provide consistent feedback, coach study skills, and use existing homework to support learning. A 4th grade parent reports changes in a child’s report card and attitude toward school after starting at Charlie’s Porch, and a 6th grade parent notes significant grade improvements and increased confidence in all subjects while working with Isabel and Hannah.
