Exploring New Horizons Outdoor Schools

Exploring New Horizons Outdoor Schools offers outdoor education programs where experienced naturalists engage students in hands-on learning. The program takes a whole child approach focused on social emotional learning, environmental stewardship, health, and the arts. Groups of up to 220 5th and 6th grade students attend multi-day programs in the redwoods, and up to 43 3rd–8th grade students attend multi-day programs at a historic lighthouse site.

Exploring New Horizons engages school groups in outdoor education programs that empower students, build environmental literacy, and strengthen school communities. Over 500 high school students and parents volunteer as cabin leaders each year at Sempervirens, acting as role models and gaining leadership skills.
