Summer Theatre Camps

Summer Theatre Camps gives participants a full-day theatre experience that includes acting, dancing, singing, costumes, and make-up. Each session creates and performs a brand new play or musical in five days, and every Summer Theatre Session ends with a full fledged original production on one of the Playhouse's two performance venues. Students learn from professional artists in a supportive, dynamic atmosphere that focuses on ensemble work and creating an original musical or play.

• Ages: 7–15 years old
• Schedule: One-week sessions, Monday through Friday, 9am to 3pm, with teen performances on Friday afternoon
• Price: Dues: $545 per session for the One-Week Create-a-Play Summer Workshop for ages 7 to 11; $545 for the Summer Teen 1-Week Performance Lab for ages 11 to 15. Discounts available for multiple sessions and for siblings.

One-Week Create-a-Play Summer Workshop for ages 7 to 11 combines drama and stage technique with personal expression and performance art. Summer Teen 1-Week Performance Lab for ages 11 to 15 is a workshop where students delve into theatre, learning to connect heart and body on stage while devising a new play centered around issues close to their heart. Santa Monica Playhouse is a 501(c)(3) non-profit educational corporation with a mission dedicated to sharing the magic of live theatre in many forms.

One parent shared that their son came home every day from the Playhouse bright eyed and full of confidence, and that they were amazed at how much the kids accomplished in such a short time, estimating that the children learned as much in a week there as in about half a year of public school.
