ART for the SOUL of it – Loose & Expressive Watermedia Art Classes offers loose and expressive watermedia work, including watercolor, gouache, acrylic painting, and mixed media. Group classes are offered online and in person, and private art lessons are also available.

Programs

• Loose & Expressive Watermedia, including Watercolor, Gouache and Acrylic Painting along with Mixed Media — Beginners welcome; if truly a beginner, private class or a few private sessions are recommended to get set up with foundations. · Online Mondays and Wednesdays 10am-Noon via Zoom; Monday afternoon class 1:30-3:30pm in person; all times Pacific/California. · Group classes are offered online and in-person. Join anytime. If you cannot make the live class, video recordings are available for two weeks and you can participate in a private Facebook group.
• Private Art Lessons — Private 90-minute sessions in the studio or online via Zoom. Includes specific instruction based on what the student wishes to learn. Video of class emailed after the lesson.

At a glance

• General schedule: Each month a new theme is introduced. The classes continue weekly, and the Monday afternoon class has resumed in person while the two morning classes continue via Zoom.

About the provider

Joanie Springer teaches the classes. Since 2020, she has taught weekly art classes on Zoom, and she has been teaching locally and through online art tutorials from 2009 to the present. She has an M.A. in Culture and Spirituality from Holy Names University and a B.A. in Literature/Creative Writing from Sonoma State University. She is self-taught as an artist.

Beginners are welcome, but truly beginner students are recommended to take private class or a few private sessions first to avoid feeling overwhelmed in group classes. Join anytime. Late arrival is distracting and students are asked to be early. If unable to attend live online, students can receive weekly video recordings and use a private Facebook group.
