Insight Collective Academy is described as South Pasadena’s premier afterschool program and as the smallest and most specialized afterschool program in South Pasadena, with a total enrollment of only 10 students. It is a small-group afterschool program for 2nd–5th grade students that specializes in executive functioning, time management, and social-emotional skills, and it balances academic time and social time each day. The program is designed to support independence, autonomy, and self-advocacy, works with kids that learn differently, and empowers children to advocate for themselves. It collaborates with the child’s school to provide wrap-around support and can recommend in-house support options such as assessments and therapies through Insight Collective. Parents can choose their child’s schedule, and the program provides an all-in-one app for scheduling, billing, updates, monitoring progress, and sharing updates about the child’s social emotional progress.

Insight Collective Academy was designed by leading pediatric neuropsychologist and South Pasadena parent Dr. Oren Boxer, who leads Insight Collective. Staff are trained in encouraging students to use a wide variety of tools and strategies, are experts in social emotional development, and are professionally trained to provide academic and social-emotional support and positive group dynamics. Taylor Lockard, Education Director, has over a decade of experience supporting children in classrooms, after-school programs, and academic coaching settings, holds a degree in Human Development and a Multiple Subject Teaching Credential, and has worked extensively with diverse learners, including those with IEPs and 504 plans. Insight Collective Academy is professionally curated to empower children to thrive academically, socially, and personally, and Insight Collective has been in operation from 2015–2026. The program was recently featured in The South Pasadena Newspaper.
