The SCGA Junior Golf Foundation was founded in 1983 and is the charitable arm of the Southern California Golf Association. The mission of SCGA Junior Golf Foundation is to develop an inclusive golf community that enables kids to thrive on and beyond the course. The Foundation was founded through a gift from the PGA Championship, which was played at Riviera Country Club. Current Junior Golf Player and Youth Development sites are located in Southeast LA, the San Fernando Valley, Riverside, Orange County and Southwest LA. Youth on Course membership is open to juniors ages 5–18 and provides access to $1–$5 green and range fees at more than 130 SoCal facilities and an SCGA GHIN number to keep track of a handicap index. LPGA*USGA Girls Golf monthly chapter activities are hosted by female instructors. Post-Secondary Scholarships are available for SCGA Junior participants for 4-year universities, community colleges or vocational schools. Change Makers provide a monthly, recurring gift to support juniors in communities, the Legacy Society honors those who have arranged a deferred gift utilizing estate and retirement planning, and the Ambassador Club is a community of donors investing in the positive development of youth through golf. Junior Golf Player and Youth Development instruction is led by certified instructors, and the leadership team includes Program Manager, Foundation Berlyn Benavides and Development Associate, Foundation Elizabeth Ellis.
