At Studio City Martial Arts, the stated mission is to provide a safe and fun learning environment for kids, juniors, teens, and adults within a supportive and friendly dojo community. The program emphasizes discipline, character building, personal health and wellness, and includes practice in communication, mindfulness, and respect for others in a non-competitive environment. The curriculum is described as supporting and encouraging individuality and personal development, and individuals are challenged to achieve excellence in their training and throughout their lives. Class schedules are released every month, and summer programs are available.
Studio City Martial Arts was named “2018 Best Martial Arts in Los Angeles” by the LA Hot List. Health and safety guidelines are closely followed from various organizations, with masks highly encouraged indoors, required during specific close-contact training activities, and required if guests show symptoms of illness or have been in close contact with someone who has tested positive for COVID-19. A negative at-home rapid antigen test result is required 3–5 days after exposure, mask use is at the discretion of instructors and staff and must be followed by all guests, and masks are provided for use.
Parent and student reviews describe long-term participation, detailed instruction, attention to self-defense and mindset, and experiences with patience, respect, and discipline. Multiple testimonials mention children training for several years, enthusiasm for attending classes, and references to senseis or instructors by name, including Sensei Brian, Sensei Bryan, and Maralise. Several reviewers describe the dojo as professional, caring, thoughtful, and family-oriented, and note a balance of working hard and having fun, constant progression, and enjoyment of the teachers.
