Gold Coast Theatre Conservatory is a not-for-profit 501(c)(3) organization and a division of Gold Coast Performing Arts Association. Since 1994, Gold Coast Theatre Conservatory has given young people a solid foundation in the basics of theatre and encourages students in grades 3–12 to explore every aspect of the theater while working together as peers. Founding Artistic Director Stephanie (Angelini) Wilson has taught theatre to people of all ages since 1980, has produced and directed for The Olympic Arts Festival, Cabrillo Music Theatre, and Young Artists Ensemble, and has had original productions showcased at the Mark Taper Forum and Covent Garden in London. Gold Coast Performing Arts Association serves as an umbrella organization for Gold Coast Plays and Conservatory and provides front office support, fundraising, marketing, and other services, and donations provide funding of scholarships for students and the production budget. Since its first performance in 1997, Gold Coast Plays has received reviews including several Ovation Award nominations, and for over 20 years it has brought professional live theater to Thousand Oaks and Moorpark. Since 1994, Gold Coast Performing Arts Association has also been active as a way for local companies to gain access to theatres at the Thousand Oaks Civic Arts Plaza and to provide a funding safety net for programming.
