Starfish Tennis

Starfish Tennis offers on-site after school enrichment programs, children's camps, Marine League coaching, USTA team coaching, private lessons, semi-private lessons, group lessons, high school tennis prep lessons, and after school tennis programs at elementary schools in the South Bay. The after school program uses the USTA Net Generation program, with size-appropriate balls, racquets, nets, and courts, and racquets and materials are provided for every child. Private and semi-private lessons are available by appointment only.

• On-site After School Enrichment Programs — 1st through 5th graders; beginners and intermediate levels · During the school year; Wednesdays 1:40-2:40 pm, Tuesdays 2:40-3:40 pm, or Thursdays 2:40-3:40 pm depending on school · On campus, on the blacktop. Equipment is provided for each student.

About the provider

Starfish Tennis was founded in 2005. Vasile Beches is the head tennis professional and head coach, and Mindy Beches is the program coordinator. Vasile has worked in the South Bay since 1990 and has over 30 years of teaching experience. He is USPTR and USPTA Certified, with certifications listed as PTR, USPTA Level 1 Pro, and USTA High-Performance Coach. He was named Southern California Tennis Association Professional of the Year in 2003. Starfish Tennis also partners with the Southern California Tennis Association to provide free lessons to children in the South Bay.

Private and semi-private lessons are available by appointment only. The after school program is for 1st through 5th grader beginners and intermediate levels; higher levels have lessons off-site.
