About

Performance Theatre for Young Artists (PTYA) offers acting, singing, dance, and performance activities where participants learn scenes, songs, and dances from Broadway musicals. The program includes instruction in how to act, dance, sing, learn blocking techniques, act on stage, project their voices, and follow proper stage etiquette. Participants perform the scenes they have learned in front of family and friends and take part in workshops, year-round community theater, and other live public performance activities.

• Ages: 7–17 years old
• Schedule: Summer 2026

PTYA was founded in 1999 and is a California nonprofit organization. Its mission is to provide education, training and performance opportunities to kids and teens in acting, singing, dance, live performance and technical theater, and to provide live public performances to the community of all ages. The program provides education, training and experience to young artists in Ventura County through workshops, year-round community theater and other performance activities, including live public performances for audiences of all ages. Through these programs, children learn and develop acting, singing, dance, literacy, technical theater, and performance skills, and gain experience in teamwork, decision-making, communication, and other life skills. PTYA’s vision is that young people feel successful, creative, confident, accepted and accepting of themselves, and it works to inspire youth of different backgrounds and situations to learn, grow and think outside the box by discovering and developing their talents and expressing themselves. For audience members, PTYA offers a family-oriented cultural experience in the enjoyment of its performances.

The leadership team includes Marta Dewey as Executive Director and Artistic Director, Jared Lantiegne as Choreographer, Julie Lantiegne as Assistant Director and in charge of costumes, and James Lantiegne as Technical Director. She has taught private voice lessons for 24 years, was trained in classical voice by Linda Brice, and has performed in numerous musical theater and opera productions and worked in technical theater in various Southern California locations. Julie Lantiegne runs The House of MAGIC Foundation, a nonprofit educational center for the arts, and James Lantiegne is a professional magician, videographer, and sound engineer. The program is currently taking registrations for Summer Camp, and tickets are on sale for Peter Pan Jr.
