About

Broadway Theater Youth Workshops and Drama Camps offers performance workshops, drama camps, classes, and related activities. Participants take part in crafts such as costume designs, set designs, make-up designs and other show-specific crafts, as well as theater games and watching movies. The kids perform on full sets with lighting, sound, costumes, and props, and every child gets a line in every show.

• Ages: 7–14 years old
• Schedule: Two-week camps running Monday through Friday, with structured time from 9:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. daily and shows on the final Thursday and Friday
• Price: $355.00 per child for the two-week camp; each family is allotted 7 tickets at $3.50 per ticket

Over the past two years, the kids have been split into two separate pods, and each pod has done its own show, with no more than 27 kids in each pod. Siblings and friends are kept in the same pod if requested, and the only time the camp kids are split into pods is during rehearsals; the rest of the day they are together for lunch, snacks, crafts, theater games, and movies. The shows on the final Thursday and Friday include multiple performances by each pod, and once a show is sold out, it is sold out. The program provides two snacks a day, and families provide lunch and any alternate snacks if needed, and the drama camp is closed to family and visitors. Registration for all camps begins on Monday, April 13th at 10:00 a.m., ends at 5:00 p.m. daily, and the offices can be called between 10:00 a.m. and 6:00 p.m. seven days a week; registering for a drama camp includes a non-refundable $50.00 “hold my slot” fee charged within 48 hours.

The Broadway Theater is now an arts center offering performance workshops, drama camps, classes, and more, and it is described as San Diego County's “BIGGEST little theater.” The Stage Door Cabaret series at the theater began in 2021 and is now in its third year, with tickets at $15.00 each, shows running about one hour, and all seats reserved. The owner and director of Vista’s Broadway Theater is Randall Hickman, and the stated mission is to make the Broadway Theater a “one stop extra-curricular activity” for a budding young performer.
