Bobcats Soccer Academy is led by Director Pete Lepak. For the last 21 years, Pete Lepak has been coaching high school soccer in Windsor and South Windsor. What started 16 years ago as a small, 1 week camp in Windsor that had 30 players attend has grown into numerous weeks of camp that had over 200 players last year.
The coaching staff includes Ryan Kaufman, Jeff Russell, Colleen Bouquot, and Matt Huleatt. Ryan Kaufman is the South Windsor Head Girls Coach, has 21 years as Assistant Varsity and JV Boys Coach at South Windsor High, 20 years as South Windsor High Goalkeeper Coach, 8 years as Connecticut Football Club Head Coach and GK coach U14–U19, serves as SWSC Curriculum Director, and holds a USSF C Coaching License and United Soccer Coaches Goalkeeper Level 1 License. Jeff Russell is a Varsity Assistant Coach for South Windsor Soccer, a South Windsor Soccer Club Coach, has 21 years of experience coaching football, basketball, and track at the high school level, and holds 4v4, 7v7, 9v9, and 11v11 soccer coach licenses. Colleen Bouquot is a South Windsor High School Assistant Girls Coach, a former Timothy Edwards Middle School Girls Coach, and a former South Windsor High School player. Matt Huleatt is the Freshman Boys Coach at South Windsor High School, a Goalkeeper Coach for South Windsor Soccer Club, a youth coach for CFC North, a former Varsity Girls Soccer Coach at Windsor High School, a former Goalkeeper Coach at Oakwood, a boys soccer coach at Portola High School in Irvine, CA from 2017–2019, and a former coach for Global Premier Soccer from 2014–2019 in MA, VT, and CA as head coach and goalkeeper coach. He has also been Director of Goalkeeping for GPS-Orange County from 2017–2019, a Bayern ID Program Coach from 2017–2019, BFA Fairfax (VT) Boys Junior Varsity coach and Program Goalkeeper Coach in Fall 2016, and Junior Varsity Head Coach and Program Goalkeeper Coach at Newton Country Day School (MA) for the 2014 and 2015 seasons.
The program’s stated goal is to make all players in Central Connecticut love the game, and the soccer academy gives players a chance to refine their skills in the 2 month hiatus between Spring and Fall soccer. Trainers at Bobcats Soccer Academy are high school coaches, premier coaches, and former top high school players from South Windsor and Windsor, and high school players help out at camp.
Parent feedback includes comments that staff were friendly, energetic, and engaging, and that one child especially liked the scrimmages at the beginning and end of each session. Parents have said they could tell the coaches are passionate and want to help the girls succeed, and that their children looked forward to going each day. One parent shared that Pete Lepak went above and beyond in connecting with their daughter and helping her feel comfortable at camp. Other parents noted that staff ensured everyone was safe and still able to participate and learn during the hottest week of the summer, that returning campers felt comfortable even when friends were not attending, that having high school players helping out gave middle school players a view of high school soccer, and that their children enjoyed every minute of camp and learned a lot of skills.
