About
Montessori Fun Home Preschool offers engaging hands-on activities where children pick their “work,” complete their activity, and then put it away. The program includes fun daily Spanish lessons taught with song, dance, stories, and fingerplays, along with activities like helping prepare for lunch, watering the garden, doing the dishes, and learning ABCs, numbers, and colors in both English and Spanish.
• Ages: 2–5 years old
• Schedule: Class options Monday–Friday, 8:30 am–2:30 pm, including a 3-days-per-week MWF option from 8:30 am–2:30 pm
Diane Rose is the Director, Teacher, owner and teacher of Montessori Fun, and she has a California Teachers Credential with an emphasis in early childhood, Montessori Teachers Training for Primary, a BA in Psychology, and more than 30 years of experience working with preschoolers and toddlers. Kristin Ohlson is a co-teacher with Diane, has over 15 years of preschool experience and over 36 units of ECE, and lives in Healdsburg with her husband and two young girls. Ashley Amador is an assistant teacher and classroom assistant, joined the program in 2022, is a student at SRJC, and is bilingual in English and Spanish. Diane and Kristin are both experienced teachers with 15-plus years working with preschoolers, are current in first aid and CPR, are vaccinated, and are also moms. The program has small class sizes with only 12 children per class and three teachers, for a low student-teacher ratio of 4:1, with the same experienced trained teachers and the same children every day in a mixed-age classroom. The program is licensed under License # 490170838.
Diane established this program with a few Montessori activities in her living room with her own three children when they were toddlers, and after 30 years of teaching this age group, she still loves her job. The program follows a beautiful Montessori curriculum, uses Montessori philosophies that foster a strong sense of community and respect for self, others, and the environment, and takes a “whole child” approach. Montessori Fun Home Preschool welcomes students regardless of race, gender, or national and ethnic origin, and is non-discriminatory in all policies. The program describes its mission as empowering children with social and academic skills, responsibility, confidence, respect for others, love for school and learning, and appreciation for the world and its beauty and balance, and providing a joyous and solid foundation for all their future education. The program serves children ages 2–5 in a full-day format, including PreK and TK, and is now accepting applications for children ages 2 to 5 years old. One parent notes the small student-teacher ratio, the true Montessori curriculum with children choosing their work and caring for the environment through tasks like watering the garden and doing the dishes, and another parent mentions that their child is learning ABCs, numbers, and colors in English and Spanish and has improved manners and respect for the environment.
