Central Combat Sports has over 20 years of success at the highest levels of combat sports and is the Canadian home of Team MMA Masters. Training is led by certified coaches with extensive experience and competition backgrounds, including multiple Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Black Belts, a former Professional Boxer and Mixed Martial Artist, and coaches with degrees in Education, Human Kinetics, Psychology, Social Work, and Engineering. The leadership team includes Head Coach Peter Zahran, Kickboxing & MMA Coach Manuel Alfaro, Advanced BJJ Coach Tyler Briffa, Kickboxing Coach Dominic Rossi, Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Coach Manny Aujla, and Daytime & Youth Coach Robbie Luciani.
The program’s mission statement is: “We help ordinary people build extraordinary skill. Our programs combine proven martial arts instruction with structured training that fits real life. Whether your goal is confidence, fitness, self-defense, or competition, we provide the coaching and community to get you there.” Central Combat Sports is described as Windsor’s most established and highest-rated mixed martial arts gym, with over 230 five-star Google reviews.
Kids Martial Arts classes focus on building fitness, discipline, and confidence in a fun and safe environment. Teen Martial Arts classes focus on Wrestling and Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu and teach practical self-defence in a safe and positive environment. Kickboxing classes include a functional warm-up, technical instruction, partner drills, bag work, and optional sparring. Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu at this program can be practiced with or without the traditional uniform (Gi or Nogi), and Judo classes require a Gi. Women’s Only classes combine Kickboxing, MMA, and fitness training into a curriculum tailored to women of all experience levels. Open Mat times are relaxed, unstructured times for members only, and Fight Team practices are private training sessions exclusively for amateur and professional fighters by invitation only.
Adult membership includes a key to the facility for access from 5am to 10pm, seven days a week, and the program offers both daytime and evening classes. The gym offers private lessons, specialized seminars, and training passes for short-term training. Training is structured around understanding and skills development rather than random techniques or rote repetition, and the training culture is controlled, where trying to knock each other out is not encouraged. Instruction is described as practical, proven, and continually refined through real-world application.
Boxing gloves are required for Kickboxing classes, and a Gi is required for Judo classes. To start, participants only need a t-shirt and some athletic shorts or pants. The program has no commitment contracts and allows cancellation at any time, with no registration fees, belt fees, testing fees, association fees, mandatory gear purchases, or long-term contracts.
