All instructors at Hauth’s Family Taekwondo are certified instructors, and all must qualify for regional and national teaching certification before they are allowed to instruct any classes. Instructor training focuses on the newest and most innovative teaching methods with an emphasis on positive reinforcement. The leadership is headed by Mr. Chris Hauth, who enrolled in Taekwondo in Rancho Cordova, California in January 1982, taught part time in Suisun City, California in 1984, and moved to Santa Rosa, California in 1985 to manage a Taekwondo school. In January 1987, Mr. Hauth opened his own club in Healdsburg, California and then moved his school to Windsor, California in 1988, and he has 44+ years of experience in the martial arts and 38 years in business. Along with his wife Rhoda, he has established a unique style of Family Taekwondo, and the program has offered Family Taekwondo since 1988.
The stated goal of Hauth’s Family Taekwondo is to provide quality instruction in the traditional Korean style of the martial arts, Taekwondo, which means, literally translated, “The Way of the Hand and Foot.” Focus is a central part of Taekwondo training, and there is an emphasis on non-violence and avoiding physical confrontation. Students are taught to block and evade strikes and to use fighting skills only as a last resort, with a focus on training to avoid physical confrontation while learning how to respond if conflict is unavoidable.
The program states that Taekwondo training relieves stress, increases stamina, and helps students lose weight, gain confidence, improve coordination, and get in shape. It also states that Taekwondo challenges the entire body, developing balance, agility, and poise, and that regular exercise is scientifically shown to relieve stress. The program notes that Taekwondo is a good workout that can improve energy levels and help sleep, that martial arts teaches a balance of humility and confidence, and that Taekwondo training combines physical exercise, mental stimulation, and social interaction to promote brain health.
Hauth’s Family Taekwondo is for the whole family, with classes tailored to all ages, including teens and adults. The program highlights that every child wins because every child participates, that all children progress individually at their own pace and are not judged against others, and that it believes every child is a winner. It also notes that Hauth’s Family Taekwondo is fun, and uses the phrase “Hundreds of classes. Years of sweat. Countless bumps & bruises. One black belt.”
The program states that Taekwondo is a great way to spend time with friends, a spouse, and children when everyone trains together. It also notes that Taekwondo training at Hauth’s Family Taekwondo has, according to students, benefited them through career gains, friendships and community, family closeness, and fun. The program sends updates, news, and general information from the dojang to families.
