SUP Camp Wash Park focuses on stand up paddleboarding on both flat-water and whitewater. Campers practice paddling while learning basic strokes, water safety, river reading, and rescue techniques such as swim rescue, recovering a lost board, and towing an injured paddler.

Under the guidance of highly trained instructors, campers are led by staff who are 18 and older with safety and skills training, described as committed, experienced, and focused on outdoor instruction. The leadership team is headed by David Secunda, former president of the Outdoor Industry Association and a 25-year veteran of the outdoor education industry. Campers are grouped by grade range, either 2nd–4th graders or 5th–7th graders, and must feel fully comfortable on open water and with being fully submerged in water for short periods of time to register; if a camper does not meet these minimum skill requirements, the camp may move the camper to a different program if space is available or remove the camper from the group and offer a credit.

The program provides transportation to and from recreation areas and access to top-of-the-line gear specifically sized for kids, with paddling locations depending on water levels and group ability. SUP Day Camp campers are expected to have some previous experience paddling in standing or moving water. The camp is backed by the Avid4 Adventure Guarantee, which states that Avid4 Adventure promises to provide an authentic outdoor adventure, incredibly well-trained and professional staff, and increased confidence, and if these promises are not met, the next Avid4 Adventure camp is free.

Avid4 Adventure, which runs SUP Camp Wash Park, states that it believes in the transformative power of the outdoors and that kids build confidence, make new friends, and master essential skills in activities like paddling, biking, rock climbing, and hiking. The organization is a Certified B Corp committed to public transparency and accountability, is accredited by the American Camp Association, and has been named among Colorado Parent’s Top 5 Sports Camps. Avid4 Adventure operates under a Special Use authorization from the National Forest Service and is an Equal Opportunity Employer.

Parent testimonials describe children learning new outdoor skills, including a camper who progressed from training wheels to riding a bike without them during camp, and note that staff are described as mature, responsible, and excited to share their passion with children. Other parents report that their children talk about camp well after it ends and look forward to returning.
