SPREE offers school excursions, day camps, weekend events, internships, and summer employment. SPREE Summer Camp is a Monday-through-Friday camp with instructional hours from 9:00 am to 3:30 pm, free care from 8:00 am to 9:00 am, and after care from 3:30 pm to 4:30 pm for an additional fee. School Break Camp runs from 8:00 am to 4:30 pm, with after care from 3:30 pm to 4:30 pm for an additional daily fee.

Programs

  • SPREE Camps — Grades entering 1-5; must be at least 6 years old at the time of their first camp session · Monday through Friday; camp hours 9:00 am-3:30 pm; free care 8:00-9:00 am; after care 3:30-4:30 pm · $400 per week · Educational, outdoor, and active summer camp at SPREE Headquarters at Johnson Habitat Park. Free care is included; after care requires an additional fee.
  • School Break Camp — Campers: K-5 graders; must be at least 6 years old. LITs: 6th-8th graders · Camp runs from 8:00 am to 4:30 pm; after care 3:30-4:30 pm · $80 per day · School break camp at Johnson Habitat Park. After care has an additional daily fee.
  • Leaders in Training (LIT) — Middle schoolers; incoming sixth-ninth graders; current 6th-9th grade students · $400 per week · Special opportunity for campers who have attended SPREE Summer Camp in the past but have aged out.
  • Summer River Ranger positions — All Denver high school and college students · Paid summer employment opportunities.

About the provider

SPREE has been active for over 40 years. The Greenway Foundation’s mission is to enhance and protect Denver’s waterways through equitable community engagement, education, and stewardship. SPREE is described as award-winning environmental education, and The Greenway Foundation has provided environmental education to more than 150,000 school children and employed more than 100 teenagers in youth employment programs.

SPREE Summer Camp has free care included from 8:00-9:00 am and an additional after care fee for 3:30-4:30 pm. School Break Camp has after care 3:30-4:30 pm for an additional fee. LIT spots and scholarships are available. FrOG members get priority access to camp registration.
