The Highlands Ranch Community Association (HRCA) states that it is dedicated to enhancing the quality of life for its residents. HRCA Preschools participate in the Universal Preschool Program through the State of Colorado. HRCA offers over 300 instructor-facilitated online courses. HRCA offers four state-of-the-art recreation centers and access to the Backcountry Wilderness Area, and Highlands Ranch is home to an 8,200-acre Backcountry Wilderness Area with 26 miles of scenic trails.

HRCA’s Creative Kids Programs include activities that address social/emotional skills, fine and gross motor skills, and healthy coping and self-regulation skills. Cotillion is described as a social education program offering a modern “spin” on social skills and manners, and social dance is used in all Cotillion classes to break down social barriers and allow students to build teamwork skills. The Cotillion curriculum has been modernized for a new generation and removes “old-fashioned” content that is described as outdated in today’s digital world.

Club Cotillion for 4th and 5th grades addresses basics of social skills learning including first impressions, building friendships, being a good team player, dealing with difficult situations, making good choices, and an introduction to table manners. Social Skills Essentials for 6th–8th grades is an advanced social skills course that explores face-to-face communication, building new relationships, championing values, progressive aspects of dining etiquette protocol, preparation for special events and job interviews, respect, teamwork, leadership, citizenship, and community service. The Social Skills Essentials curriculum finishes with an evening that includes a sit-down dinner at the Highlands Ranch Mansion.

For Cotillion, ladies are required to wear dresses, dress skirts, or dress pants and flats or low heels, with no sandals, high heels, or mules, and it is strongly recommended that ladies do not wear strapless dresses; white gloves are optional for girls. Gentlemen in Cotillion are required to wear dress pants, a collared dress shirt, and black or brown dress shoes, with no tennis shoes, and they are asked to wear a tie for the final party; suit coats are optional for the final party.

Cotillion has been a tradition in the Highlands Ranch Community for over 15 years, and the Highlands Ranch Community Association and Platinum Protocol state that they are proud to continue this legacy. The Highlands Ranch Cultural Affairs Association serves over 90,000 Highlands Ranch residents and surrounding communities and organizes a variety of educational, artistic, musical, theatrical, and dance events. The Highlands Ranch Community Scholarship Fund offers postsecondary scholarships to HRCA students who demonstrate community involvement through volunteerism. Highlands Ranch has earned numerous awards for its well-designed neighborhoods, parks, and open spaces.

Annabel D. Kyler is listed as the Highlands Ranch Community Association Cotillion instructor. She is a graduate of Pepperdine University, worked as the Executive Vice President of JDW Social Education Programs for 10 years, traveled extensively to instruct students nationwide, and has been teaching social education for over 17 years. She has taught at all age levels from elementary to executive and is certified in Situational Leadership II (a Ken Blanchard platform) and DISC (an Institute Success Behavioral Assessment & Training Module). Jamie Bouchard is listed as the contact for Cotillion.
