About

artSPARK Creative Studio Camps and Classes offers kids a mix of collaborative art projects, sensory activities, open studio time, and cooperative games. Participants work with both 2-D and 3-D art, including sewing and other collaborative projects that use a wide selection of supplies such as brushes, paints, clay, and collage materials. Each day blends structured skill-building with free-form expression, and camps are tailored with both 2-D and 3-D art options that include inspiration projects and instructor-led demos without an overarching theme.

• Ages: 3–13 years old
• Schedule: Week-long summer camps, half-day Summer Clubs, and flexible School Break Camp options including single-day or full school break sessions
• Price: School Break Camp offers a full break of artistic discovery at a discounted rate

artSPARK Creative Studio Camps and Classes runs kids’ art camps during summer, fall, winter, and spring school breaks, with camps for preschoolers through 8th graders, including a Pre+K Camp for preschool and kindergarten kids and a 1st–8th Camp for children in 1st to 8th grade. Week-long camps end with an Artists’ Celebration where campers display their work and share their creative process with family and friends. Classes and camps use discovery-based teaching strategies, artist-approved techniques, and Studio Habits of Mind, and studio experiences prioritize autonomy and exploration. At School Break Camp, staff support independence in the creative process and sensory play, and campers receive personalized guidance to develop new skills and push beyond their usual limits. Parties at the studio are end-to-end celebrations where kids are encouraged to dress for mess.

The leadership team includes Owner Heather Pridemore; Studio Coordinator Rachel Brazell; Instructors Elle Boettner, Emily Milbauer, Emma Brown, Lucas Moyers, Sarah Rostemo, Syd Jensen, and Taylor Heinke; and Studio Assistants Michelle Sepulveda, Nora McGovern, Spencer Breece, and Tori Lucero. Studio Assistant Nora McGovern has a background in Elementary Education and Special Education, holds an Interdisciplinary Studies degree focused on Elementary Education and a Master’s degree in Special Education, and has taught Pre-K and multiple grade levels in Denver-area schools. Instructor Syd Jensen works primarily in drawing and painting with watercolor and acrylic inspired by nature and holds a Bachelor’s degree from South Dakota State University in Psychology, Sociology, and Human Development and Family Studies, and also works with foster children in the community. An Arvada location is scheduled to open in April 2025.

The program’s mission states that artSPARK focuses on the creative process, where confidence, resilience, and independent thinking are built, and that studio experiences prioritize autonomy and exploration so kids learn to express themselves and think like artists. The mission explains that artSPARK uses Studio Thinking to support creative and critical thinking skills, combining artistic techniques, creative concepting, and communication, and that the studio believes in the power of art to forge connections, solve problems, and give kids an outlet for self-expression. The mission also states that the studio is committed to a diverse, inclusive, and equitable environment, welcomes children of all ages from toddlers to teenagers and of all abilities, races, genders, orientations, and experiences, and asks participants to be kind, patient, and mindful with themselves and others in a space described as safe for exploration and risk-taking without judgment.

Parent testimonials describe artSPARK as offering “awesome summer camps and weekly programs,” mention a child who attended summer camp twice and a six-week sewing class that she “totally loved,” and say it is “a wonderful place for children to explore their creative side.” Other parents report that attending artSPARK has allowed a child “to love art and think of himself as an artist,” and that instructors “love what they do,” are “so patient with the kids,” and “will do whatever they can to help a young artist bring her vision to life.”
