About

Denver Equestrians Riding School – Youth Riding Programs & Year-Round Horse Camps offers horseback riding lessons that include private and group riding lessons, introductory riding lessons, and Youth Riding Clubs. The program also offers year-round and summer horse camps, including pony camp, where participants ride in lessons, groom horses, and tack horses. Riders can also take part in horse shows and special events, and there are programs for adults as well.

• Ages: 5–16 years old
• Schedule: A full day or week of fun and learning for riders ages 5–16yrs.

Since 2009, the program’s stated mission has been to provide a premium facility with a family-friendly environment where horse lovers of all ages learn, thrive and grow. The lesson programs are described as emphasizing safety, education, and fun, with a focus on building confidence, strong horsemanship skills, and meaningful connections with horses and like-minded friends. The facility is described as a 32,000 sq. ft. equestrian center and a 32,000sf equestrian paradise, with healthy, happy school horses and programs for riders of all ages and skill levels, from brand new beginners to experienced equestrians.

The staff includes top-quality equine educators and talented horseback riding instructors. Hanna Powers is a nationally ranked USEF competitor for over a decade, competed as an NCAA Division I athlete for the University of South Carolina’s Equestrian Team, and has been recognized with numerous year-end awards from both USEF and USHJA while representing her teams in Nations Cup–formatted events up to 1.40m. Allison Palmer earned her degree in Equine Sciences from Colorado State University. Kaylee Doeding has earned her BHS PATH certifications to teach riding lessons and therapeutic riding. Lucy Ambrose won the sportsmanship award with ETHJA. Sarah T is listed as the DERS Director of Operations.

The program describes itself as a vibrant community united by a love for horses. Parent and rider feedback includes comments about knowledgeable and friendly trainers, a warm and relaxed atmosphere, happy and well-taken-care-of horses, and children who seem calm and confident. Parents describe positive experiences with private lessons, week-long camps, pony camp, and summer horse camps, including learning to ride, groom, and tack horses, working toward a horse show at the end of camp, and campers wanting to return for additional weeks. One parent notes that their stepdaughter received a “most improved” recognition at the end of a beginner’s camp. An adult rider reports starting as a complete beginner and feeling encouraged by a knowledgeable and patient teacher.
