United Summer Camps, Pro-Sports Camp Nationals Baseball Camps, Pro-Sports Camp Nationals Softball Camps, Multi-Sport Camp, and Nationals Baseball Camps. • Ages: 3–13 years old
For 30 years, Headfirst Summer Camps has created joyful, intentionally designed experiences that help children grow in confidence, curiosity, and independence. The mission of the program is described as “Where summer begins. Built for growth, confidence and connection,” with every activity designed to build confidence, independence, and skill. Programs are intentionally designed for each age group so campers feel confident, capable, and supported, and campers are described as feeling welcomed, included, and part of a supportive community from day one.
Headfirst Summer Camps describes its approach as growth-focused programming with age-intentional design, community and belonging, and thoughtfully designed experiences that meet kids in their interests and help them grow from there. The camps use a Spot • Create • Celebrate approach, where staff spot when a camper is ready, create the opportunity, and celebrate the breakthrough, which the program calls a “Headfirst Moment,” such as the first time a camper jumps into the pool, raises their hand, or leads a team huddle. The organization states that nothing in the camp experience is accidental, and that intention shows up in how groups are formed and how feedback is given.
Headfirst Summer Camps partners with exceptional campuses across DC, Maryland, and Virginia and offers programs for ages 3–13 across these areas. Nationals Baseball & Softball Camps are described as “A new Nats Camp Experience: Baseball joy, fandom, and memories your child will talk about all year,” and D.C. United Camps are described as camps that “Ignite your child’s love of soccer and joyful sportsmanship.”
Parent testimonials describe campers who are excited to attend Jr. Day Camp, make friends, try new things, and come home happy. Other parents note that their children have been thrilled with the activities and how fun and engaging the counselors and fellow campers are, and one family describes returning for four summers, with children in different Headfirst camps who are engaged and excited about their camp experiences and activities.
