Families can also join Family Beach Picnics, family nature field trips, Seasonal Family Festivals, Forest Teacher Training, and Forest Parent Workshops.

• Ages: 2.5–12+ years old
• Schedule: Options Monday–Friday from September through June for Family Forest School and Homeschool Forest School, and options Monday–Friday in June and July for Forest Camp; Parent Workshops and Trainings take place on specific dates during the forest year.

Take Root’s mission is to facilitate outdoor experiences that inspire the curious mind, instill love and appreciation for nature while nurturing positive and holistic relationships, with the understanding that being in and with nature encourages respect and admiration for the environment and all living things and cultivates the growth of healthy and diverse communities. The program follows the rhythms of the seasons and integrates what is happening that day, in that place into the daily flow, with learning emerging from the interests and curiosities of the children and using a whole-child learning approach focused on head, heart, and hands. Programs are designed for homeschooling families through Homeschool Forest School for ages 5 and up, and instructional classes are offered as support to supplement each child’s home-school experience, with summer camp taking place during June and July for children ages 5 and up. Take Root is a learning community and does not act as a child-care nor provide child care services. There are opportunities for stewardship, volunteering and getting involved in the local community and environment.
