Campus KidCare is an enrichment program created by the Polk County School System and local child care providers. It is dedicated to providing a safe, accessible, affordable, developmentally sound child care program for elementary school children. The program operates during the school year at participating sites as well as during Summer Camp and is open to a limited number of children. Each Campus KidCare site has its own telephone, and the program provides a nutritious snack each afternoon. Staff, volunteers, and specialists work within a staff-to-child ratio of 1:17. The program was developed because parents requested an after-school child care activity club, and its designers set out to offer a top quality program that costs less because overhead is covered by existing school facilities. SSYFS Campus KidCare is designed to give children educational, social, cultural, emotional, and academic benefits.
