About

MTC Camps offers musical theater productions where campers take part in a full musical theater play. The program includes dance classes, acting classes, and music classes as part of each session.

• Ages: 6–18 years old
• Schedule: 2-week sessions, Monday–Friday, 9:00am–4:00pm, with after care available 4:00–5:00pm
• Price: After Care is available from 4–5 pm for an additional fee of $120 per week, paid in advance.

MTC Spring and Summer Camps are creative programs for students ages 6 through 14, and all campers are guaranteed a role in the musical theater play. Summer Camp participants are grouped by age to form an ensemble that stays together for the entire session. MTC maintains a 6 to 1 ratio of camper to staff member, provides a hot lunch and afternoon snack for Summer Camp, and requests that children with allergies bring their own lunch each day. Campers must bring their own water bottle. Limited scholarships are available for Summer Camp, and MTC offers a 5% reduction in fees for siblings, subject to office clearance. MTC Young Leaders Fellowship is a hands-on paid mentorship program for teens ages 15–18 that focuses on leadership, creative, and professional skills in musical theater production, and fellows assist with camp operations, rehearsals, and performances.

Each member of the highly trained staff receives background checks and basic health and safety training. The leadership team includes Artistic Director Victoria Row-Traster, Managing Director Yolima De Avila (Yoli), Technical Director Eventz Paul, Education Manager Terrence Brunn, Facilities Managers Manuel Bonilla and Miguel Bonilla, and Assistant Technical Director Nia Nichols. Victoria Row-Traster received a Post Graduate Certificate in Education from The Central School of Speech and Drama in London and a Master of Arts in Educational Theatre from NYU Steinhardt in New York. Yoli holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Business from Florida International University. Eventz Paul participated in the Technical Fellowship Program at Miami Light Project, and Nia holds a Bachelor of Arts in Theater from FIU and participated in the Technical Fellowship at Miami Light Project.

MTC’s mission is to create transformative live arts experiences and educational opportunities for people of all ages, abilities, and cultural and socioeconomic backgrounds, and to provide affordable rehearsal, performance, and screening facilities for artists and arts organizations. The building that houses MTC is a mid-century theater dating from around 1946. MTC has partnerships with The Adrienne Arsht Center, Culture Shock Miami, Miami Light Project, Nicklaus Children’s Hospital, and Moss Center, and has offered up to 20 full scholarships each summer through the MTC Summer Camp Scholarship Program.
