The Tampa Metropolitan Area YMCA offers an all-new childcare service with Licensed Preschool at the Y for ages 2 years old to 5 years old at two family centers. The staff includes Certified Personal Trainers who can plan workouts at the Y. The Tampa YMCA focuses on Youth Development, Healthy Living and Social Responsibility, and its mission is to put Judeo-Christian principles into practice through programs that build healthy spirit, mind and body for all. The Tampa YMCA is a 501(c)3 nonprofit charitable organization and is described as the largest and oldest service organization in America.

In 1889, the first YMCA facility was built in Tampa as a 50,000-square-foot building on the corner of North Florida Avenue and Zack Street, and the Tampa Metropolitan Area YMCA brought Tampa its first gymnasium and indoor swimming pool. The Tampa YMCA reaches hundreds of thousands of individuals each year through membership, programs and outreach activities in the community. It continues a partnership with the Tampa Bay Lightning for a second season, and the Tampa YMCA logo appears on all Tampa Bay Lightning jerseys as part of the “Patch With A Purpose” program. Community support from individuals and local partnerships helps the Y address critical community needs through program scholarships and free offerings.
