Georgia 4-H Youth Development

Georgia 4-H Youth Development is part of UGA Extension and focuses on 4-H youth development within a broader set of programs in agriculture, food, families, and the environment. The program is supported by UGA Extension agents, staff, and trained volunteers who share information and run programs through county Extension offices. In fiscal year 2023, 4-H Youth Development recorded 1,183,125 face-to-face contacts, 173,505 4-H’ers, 19,245 programs, 92,733 visitors to 4-H centers, and 6,255 teen and adult volunteers.

UGA Extension states that its mission is to translate the science of everyday living for families, farmers and communities to foster a healthy and prosperous Georgia. UGA Extension is a collaborative effort between Georgia county governments, the USDA, and the University of Georgia's colleges of Agricultural & Environmental Sciences and Family & Consumer Sciences. UGA Extension supports communities through workshops, classes, consultations, certifications, camps and educator resources. UGA Extension offers ServSafe® training that is nationally recognized and accredited for food service managers from the National Restaurant Association Educational Foundation (NRAEF).
