Newton County 4-H includes activities such as 4-H Club Night, Cloverbud Council, Project Achievement, Judging Teams, Summer Activities & Camp, Involved Incentives, Livestock, and the SAFE: BB Team. The program also offers Adulting 101: because life does not come with instructions! and has featured a Mars Base Camp Trivia Game connected to a 4-H STEM Challenge.

Adulting 101 is a virtual youth development series created by University of Georgia Cooperative Extension agents in Cobb, Gwinnett, Newton, and Rockdale counties for 4-H youth in their areas. Leadership and education for Newton County 4-H involve Brittani Lee, Cobb County 4-H agent; Brittany Teets, 4-H agent in Rockdale County; Pam Bloch, 4-H agent in Gwinnett County; and Charlene Scott, 4-H educator in Newton County and UGA Extension – Newton County. Newton County 4-H members and alumni have received recognition, including Deven Millerick, a former Newton County 4-H member and Newton County AmeriCorps Service Member, who was selected as a Summer Camp Counselor for the Shawnee Tribe at Rock Eagle 4-H Center; Lavender Harris, a Newton 4-H alum, who received the Georgia Master 4-H Club Scholarship and has earned four Master 4-H awards; and CJ Harris, a Master 4-H’er who is serving as a Georgia 4-H State Representative. A Newton County 4-H member participated in a Mars Base Camp Trivia Game that helped kick off the 2020 4-H STEM Challenge, where Bill Nye, “The Science Guy,” served as special guest host, and each of the four 4-H’ers in the game were awarded $2,000 to support their 4-H club’s STEM program. One Newton County Senior 4-H member, CJ Harris, described an experience with the words, “How cool was that?” The University of Georgia is an Equal Opportunity Institution, and anyone needing a reasonable accommodation or language access services must contact Newton County Extension at least three weeks prior to the program date.
