Star-C After-School and Summer Camp Programs

Star-C After-School Care and Summer Camp Programs offer free after-school care and summer camp programs for elementary students. The programs also include afterschool and summer enrichment programs for children in affordable housing communities in collaboration with local schools at no cost to parents. Star-C has also launched the LITTLE STARS EARLY LEARNING PROGRAM for 2–5 year olds at Willow Branch Apartments in Clarkston.

Star-C is an Atlanta non-profit organization, founded in 2014, with a mission to reduce transiency in apartment communities near high-need schools. Star-C is a collaborative, nonprofit 501(c)(3). The organization partners with conscientious landlords who are committed to providing well-maintained, affordable housing for working families and collaborates with employment agencies and financial advisors, local schools, organizations that improve access to nutritious food, tenant-led community gardens, and local healthcare providers. Star-C offers wraparound educational, wellness and food security programs, including access to healthcare and wellness services, food security programs ranging from healthy lunches and snacks to establishing community gardens, tenant-led community gardens for fresh produce, and access to regular checkups, dental care, and screening fairs for various health issues, including diabetes. Star-C also provides eviction relief for qualified residents through a scholarship program and hosts a community breakfast on the last Thursday of each month. One shared statement from the program is: “If you provide families access to necessary resources, enabling them to build social capital, it improves not only their families but also enhances their lives.”
