Monroe-Walton Center for the Arts Programs and Classes include art classes, workshops, pottery classes, literary arts, and summer art camp, along with free creative meetups and free creative gatherings. Monroe-Walton Center for the Arts is Walton County’s only nonprofit community art center and features work by more than 80 local artists and makers in its gallery and gift shop. It has offered “Art for All” since 1993. The center states that it is proud to be a community art center that is welcoming, teaching, and inspiring through creative expression, and that it believes art is for everyone to enjoy, to learn, and to heal. The center notes that it is always free to visit and that many classes are beginner-friendly and designed to help participants learn as they go, with classes available for kids, teens, adults, and people with special needs, including free gallery exhibits and free and low-cost art programs for differently-abled children and adults, special needs students, and those navigating grief. Students are asked to arrive a few minutes early and bring any listed supplies if needed.
The organization partners with On Stage Walton and Walton Writers, is supported by the Georgia Council for the Arts and the National Endowment for the Arts through their grant programs, and receives support from the Walton County Healthcare Foundation for ArtMD Healing Art Kits and from the Fisher-Crum Foundation. It reports serving thousands each year with affordable access to art and creativity and supporting local artists through its gift shop and community outreach. Monroe-Walton Center for the Arts has been honored with the Community Partner Award of Excellence by the Georgia Downtown Association.
