ReClif Programs is part of a center that is centered around a multi-functional gym area with suitable equipment and minimal distractions, along with separate rooms that have decor and furnishings specific to their use. The center includes a comfortable waiting area and workspace with free Wi-Fi, comfortable seating, observational opportunities, and a large TV. The mission of ReClif is to operate as a fitness-based therapy center designed to empower individuals with autism, based on the belief that all people have competence regardless of their perceived limitations, and to offer personalized, innovative, and exciting training regimes. The program was conceptualized by a non-speaking autistic founder, Reece Blankenship, who communicated his vision via letter board after gaining communication through Spelling to Communicate, and he is listed as Founder and Idea Man alongside Lou Blankenship and Jeff Blankenship as Owner/Operators.
The history of ReClif includes Reece Blankenship designing the center in 2016 after he and his family attended the first-ever communication workshop given by Elizabeth Vosseller in Atlanta in November 2014, where his mind and body were finally able to work together to express his thoughts through Spelling to Communicate at age 19. Staff credentials include Dr. Daron B., a Physical Therapist with Special Fit, Certified Interactive Metronome, and Certified Fit Light Coach credentials, with degrees in Exercise and Sport Science from the University of Georgia and a Doctor of Physical Therapy from Duke University (2019); Akeem M., a Certified Special Fit Coach with Interactive Metronome, Fit Light, Global Sensory, and Elementary Communication training, a psychology degree from Georgia State University, and registered behavior technician status; and Jeff P., a Special Fit Coach with certifications in Interactive Metronome, Fitlight, Yoga, and Elementary Communication, a degree in Recreation Therapy from St. Joseph’s University, and eight years of certification as a recreation therapist. Community involvement includes ReClif Community events and outings for individuals with autism, with Akeem and his wife Kara active in these outings, and Jeff’s three years of experience coaching for the Special Olympics of Georgia. Testimonials describe ReClif as a community that understands and connects to autistics and highlight staff members’ long-term involvement in the special needs community and their interest in combining fitness with tools such as Interactive Metronome, FITLIGHT, and Spelling to Communicate.
