Bulloch County Recreation and Parks Youth Programs

Bulloch County Recreation and Parks Youth Programs include sports such as baseball and softball, basketball, volleyball, tennis, track, cheerleading, football, wrestling, archery, and pickleball. The program also offers activities like disc golf, fishing through the Bulloch Bass Club and Fishing Rodeo, and seasonal events such as Cookies with Santa, Firecracker Fest, Opening Day, Santa’s Calling, and Trick or Treat. Additional options include an After School Program, Camp Adventure, Summer Camp, Parent’s Night Out, youth art programs, youth cooking classes, a literacy club, a STEM club, tumbling, Recess Rumble homeschool PE, piano and drum lessons, and other programs such as a Mahjong program, Green Thumb Club, line dancing, public riding, rodeos, roping events, car shows, meetings, speakers, training classes, and aquatic programs and activities.

Mill Creek Regional Park, which is part of the department’s system, opened in 1993 and has hosted more than 400 tournaments, including five national tournaments, and was named the 1996 USSSA Complex of the Year. The Bulloch County Recreation and Parks Department is a public recreation department funded by the Bulloch County Commission along with fees and charges collected by the department, and it maintains and operates eight recreation areas with 28 buildings, 29 athletic fields, 13 tennis courts, 2 swimming pools, 8 outdoor basketball courts, 13 pickleball courts, walking trails, picnic areas, 7 playgrounds, and picnic pavilions. The Community Recreation Division offers instructional programs for youth and adults, including the After School Program, Summer Camps, cooking classes, STEM-related classes, a literacy club, tumbling, special events, and volunteer opportunities, while the Athletics Division offers football, soccer, baseball, softball, volleyball, wrestling, and tennis, and the Parks and Grounds Division maintains landscaping, grass, irrigation, and event and program preparation for all recreation facilities and other county properties. Splash in the Boro Family Waterpark and Aquatics Center offers a wide variety of aquatic programs and activities for all ages, and the Bulloch County Agricultural Complex is available for rent year round and is typically rented during most weekends. The department’s mission states that it is dedicated to enhancing the quality of life for all residents by providing inclusive, diverse, and affordable recreational opportunities that promote active living, healthy lifestyles, and community engagement through well-maintained facilities, innovative programs, and a commitment to excellence. The department also has an established relationship with the Bulloch County Board of Education and Georgia Southern University, allowing shared use of facilities at non-peak times, and its services aim to unify the cooperative spirit within the county, communicate the opportunities and advantages of parks and recreation services, be geographically accessible and economically feasible, and network with community agencies, other recreation providers, and schools.
