Sunflower Camp – Highland Park includes daily themed activities where campers splash around in sprinklers, enjoy free swim, listen to stories and songs, play small group games, and take part in a special art project, a game, and sensory exploration. Pre-K Sunflower Campers take a school bus to and from the local pool to enjoy free swim three days per week on Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday.
• Ages: 0–4 years old
• Schedule: Infant full-day camp runs June 15, 2026 – August 7, 2026, with additional half-day and full-day options for toddlers, twos, threes, and fours offered 2–5 days per week.
• Price: Infant full-day camp is $2,638 for June 15, 2026 – August 7, 2026 in two installments, with separate tiered pricing for toddler, twos, threes, and fours half-day and full-day options, plus a $100 camp registration fee and a $200 registration fee for infant care, toddler care, and preschool programming; summer 2026 installment billing is split between April 15 and May 15 with payments due May 1 and June 1.
Rooms are led by qualified and dedicated school-year staff, with a low staff-to-child ratio and the same classroom teachers from the school year for children who attend regularly. JCYS Family Centers use a play-based curriculum with age-appropriate lessons in math, science, and literacy while encouraging creativity and individual expression, and JCYS offers year-round early childhood education, summer camps, and specialty programs for children ages 6 weeks through 13 years. Guided by Jewish values and culture, Jewish Council for Youth Services provides educational and recreational programs for Chicagoland’s children and, through board service, develops the next generation of Jewish civic leaders.
Campers take advantage of an outdoor stage, drama seating pavilion, full-sized indoor gym, and securely enclosed outdoor playgrounds with age-appropriate facilities, with various sprinklers set up outside. Theme weeks include topics such as “Help My Garden Grow,” “Ice Cream Shoppe,” and “Under the Sea,” and themes incorporate in-house field trips that balance entertainment and an introduction to community helpers. All campers participate in daily themed activities that include a special art project, a game, and sensory exploration.
Half-day campers are served a morning snack, half-day with Lunch Bunch campers receive a morning snack and lunch, and full-day campers receive a morning snack, lunch, and an afternoon snack. Campers receive catered meals and snacks featuring fresh, colorful, made-from-scratch food made with local ingredients, and organic milk is served to all campers. Meals and rest times are scheduled from 9:30 am – 10:00 am, 12:20 pm – 12:55 pm, and 3:00 pm – 3:30 pm, with rest time from 1:00 pm – 3:00 pm.
Daily newsletters from each group of campers and a weekly all-camp newsletter are sent home, and camp photos are posted through Kaymbu, an electronic communication site. JCYS engages young professionals through board service and leadership opportunities, and themes incorporate in-house field trips that provide an introduction to community helpers. For over a century, JCYS has responded to the changing needs and demographics of the Chicagoland community.
