• Ages: 4–18 years old
• Schedule: Class options Monday–Saturday in the afternoon and early evening, plus Saturday morning
Kingdom Martial Arts describes its mission with the slogan, “WE BUILD BLACK BELTS WITH CHARACTER.” The program has been located in Naperville, IL for almost 10 years and describes itself as a dedicated member of the community. It was formerly known as Max Martial Arts and is referred to in testimonials as “Kingdom (formerly, Max) Martial Arts.”
The leadership team includes Headmaster Inhun Baek, Master Jackie Redmond, Master Alejandro (Alex) Rios, Instructor Ian Rushing, Jr. Instructor Takumi Truman, and Jr. Instructor Fiona Cazzola. Headmaster Baek is a 6th degree Black Belt in Taekwondo, earned his certification in 2013, and was a Taekwondo instructor in the Korean Military in 2008. He teaches Hapkido to individuals 13 years and older and has continued to teach since coming to the United States in 2010. Master Jackie is a 5th degree Black Belt in Taekwondo and Kumdo. Master Alex is a 4th degree Black Belt in Taekwondo and has been instructing students since 2020. Instructor Ian is a 3rd Degree Black Belt and a certified instructor at Kingdom Martial Arts. Jr. Instructor Takumi is a 2nd degree Black Belt in Taekwondo and has been instructing students since 2022. Jr. Instructor Fiona is a 2nd degree Black Belt in Taekwondo.
Kingdom Martial Arts hosts an anti-bully seminar, and Master Jackie volunteers for this seminar to encourage students to be aware of social issues, to acknowledge the need to respond, and to know how to address them when they occur. One testimonial from the Breese family states that they have been impressed with the work and effort the staff made so that kids could continue training during the pandemic. Another testimonial from the Akkeron family states that their child enjoys learning Taekwondo at Kingdom (formerly, Max), describes the program as fun and full of discipline, and notes that moving up levels builds their child’s confidence and sense of accomplishment, with a flexible schedule for every level of learning. The Murphy family testimonial states that their daughter has attended for 3 years, their son began this year, and that both have loved Master Baek and Master Jackie from day one. The Rotelli family describes being greeted and made to feel part of the family, notes that their children experienced Taekwondo in individual and group settings before any commitment, and shares that their daughter earned her first black stripe for breaking a board. A testimonial from the Gibson family describes Kingdom Martial Arts as a first class martial arts school for Taekwondo and Hapkido, notes that Headmaster Baek holds a 5th Dan Black Belt in Taekwondo and a 4th Dan Black Belt in Hapkido, and states that the vast majority of kids who obtain black belts continue with the program.
