Kingdom Martial Arts

Kingdom Martial Arts offers Taekwondo and Hapkido classes, as well as an anti-bully seminar. The program includes instruction in Taekwondo for children and teens, and Hapkido is taught to individuals 13 years and older by Headmaster Inhun Baek.

• Schedule: Class options Monday–Saturday in the late afternoon and evening on weekdays, and mid-morning to early afternoon on Saturdays

Kingdom Martial Arts states its mission as “WE BUILD BLACK BELTS WITH CHARACTER.” The program was formerly known as Max Martial Arts and has been located in Naperville, IL for almost 10 years. Kingdom Martial Arts describes itself as a dedicated member of the community and offers students the option to try a class before making any type of commitment. The program also offers an anti-bully seminar and notes that Hapkido for adults is described as a wonderful martial art for getting back into shape, acquiring self-defense capabilities, and general flexibility. Its promotion policy states that promotions cannot be combined with other existing promotions, and if there is no expiration date on the promotion, all Kingdom promotions are valid until the end of the month when the promotion was handed out.

Headmaster Inhun Baek is a 6th degree Black Belt in Taekwondo and teaches Hapkido to individuals 13 years and older. During 2008, he was a Taekwondo instructor in the Korean Military, and he attended a Taekwondo college, graduating from an accelerated program in two years. Master Jackie Redmond is a 5th degree Black Belt in Taekwondo and Kumdo. Master Alejandro (Alex) Rios is a 4th degree Black Belt in Taekwondo and has been instructing students since 2020. Instructor Ian Rushing is a 3rd Degree Black Belt and a certified instructor at Kingdom Martial Arts. Jr. Instructor Takumi Truman is a 2nd degree Black Belt in Taekwondo and has been instructing students since 2022. Jr. Instructors Fiona Cazzola, Sydney Carr, and Nitya Srivastava are all 2nd Degree Black Belts in Taekwondo.

One testimonial from the Breese family states that they have been impressed with the work and effort the staff at Kingdom (formerly Max) Martial Arts made so that kids could continue training during the pandemic. The Akkeron family shares that their child enjoys learning Taekwondo at Kingdom (formerly Max), describes the program as incredibly fun and full of discipline, and notes that moving up levels builds their child’s confidence and sense of accomplishment, with a flexible schedule for every level of learning. The Murphy family reports that their daughter has attended for three years and their son just began, and that both have loved Master Baek and Master Jackie from day one, calling them great instructors who are fantastic with all ages. The Rotelli family describes being greeted and made to feel part of the family, explains that their children were able to experience Tae Kwon Do in individual and group settings before any commitment, and notes that their daughter earned her first black stripe for breaking a board. The Gibson family calls Kingdom Martial Arts a first-class martial arts school for Tae Kwon Do and Hapkido, states that Master In-hun Baek holds a 5th Dan Black Belt in Tae Kwon Do and a 4th Dan Black Belt in Hapkido, and describes his teaching style as fun and interactive. The Gibson family also reports that the vast majority of kids who obtain black belts continue with the program, that the school is for kids, teens, parents, and other adults, and that when one family member started Hapkido with Master Baek three years earlier at age 53, that person lost 50 pounds and described being in the best shape of their life.
