Montessori Children’s House of North Barrington

Montessori Children’s House of North Barrington offers children experiences that include learning about nature, exploring music, developing dexterity and coordination through physical activity, and exercising creativity through experiences in art. The program takes place in an authentic Montessori classroom and serves as the lab school of the Seton Montessori Institute, where children are exposed to the most current and progressive teaching methods in this setting.

Montessori Children’s House of North Barrington was built in 1970 with a unique design to serve the needs of today’s children and includes a park-like 3-acre campus nestled among the rolling hills of the northwest suburbs. Its educational programs serve children from birth through age six in a mixed-age group setting. The mission of the program states that its experienced and dedicated staff helps the child develop an awareness of himself and the world around him, with the child working and learning in an atmosphere of balanced independence and structure.

The staff at Montessori Children’s House of North Barrington is described as experienced and dedicated, and the school functions as the lab school of the Seton Montessori Institute, one of the largest Montessori teacher education programs in North America, resulting in exposure to the most current and progressive teaching methods in an authentic Montessori classroom. The program is fully accredited by the American Montessori Society (AMS), accredited by the National Council for Private School Accreditation, and accredited by the American Camp Association for Summer Camp. It is a member school of the Association of Illinois Montessori Schools, affiliated with Montessori Education Centers Associated, and serves as a lab school of the Seton Montessori Institute. The campus is certified as a bird friendly habitat and wildlife habitat by the National Wildlife Federation.
