About

Art Together Studio in and by Community Church of Barrington offers once-a-week art classes all year long, open studio classes, and one-time art classes over the holiday break. Students receive art techniques instruction in drawing, painting, and the use of a variety of media, and can also take part in Art Parties on Sundays that combine an art lesson with time in a party room. The studio also includes artistic expressions of worship, such as murals and dynamic artwork for services.

• Ages: 3–18 years old
• Schedule: Once-a-week classes are offered all year long for ages 5 to adults, with in-person classes held continuously on the same day and time unless otherwise specified; Art Parties are available on Sundays from 3:00–5:00 pm, with the first 1½ hours as an art lesson and a complimentary 30 minutes in a party room; classes will only be canceled for weather when District 220 cancels school for dangerous conditions.
• Price: Registration is online only and $25 for each individual class; the first 1½ hours of a Sunday party is an art lesson for 4–17 students at $25 per person with art supplies included, with a minimum requirement of 4 students or $100 and then $25 per person for each additional party guest.

All classes are taught by Miss Alayne, who began teaching art at The School of the Art Institute of Chicago and has a B.S. in Psychology with a studio art minor from Centre College and an M.A.A.T. from The School of the Art Institute of Chicago. She has taught open studio classes for ages 3 to adult through the Division of Continuing Studies, has enjoyed teaching children and adults in the Barrington area since 2001, and continues to partner with the Arlington Heights Memorial Library to provide Art with Alayne creative aging programs through their senior services department.

Art Together Studio states that art classes are for everyone and that students are welcomed and celebrated from all backgrounds and beliefs, with an invitation for anyone of any religion, gender, color, ability, preference, or national origin to come as they are to create and celebrate community together. One parent from Kildeer, Illinois, shared that “Miss Alayne has the unique combination of creativity and teaching talent that has helped my daughters create an appreciation and enjoyment for art with the extra benefit of having beautiful artwork throughout our home.”
