Schoolhouse Kitchen + Studio offers after school cooking classes, including Treats & Eats, Teen Treats & Eats, and day off school camps. Kids and teens cook, bake, and make simple meals, and the day off school camps include preparing lunch and dessert.
Programs
- After School Cooking Classes in Oak Park — kids + teens · Now offering after school cooking classes for curious kids + teens! Explore global flavors, master baking basics, and learn to cook simple, delicious meals—one fun class at a time!
- Treats & Eats — kids · Wednesdays from 4:00 - 5:30pm · A sweet and savory journey through the world of cooking and baking. Each week, kids will roll up their sleeves for a new hands-on project.
- Teen Treats & Eats — 12 and up · Fridays from 4:00 - 5:30pm · A hands-on series for teens who want to cook, bake, and eat something delicious. No experience needed.
- Wicker Park - Day Off School Camps — children · Kids off school for the day can send their child to cook with us. Children will prepare their own lunch and dessert each day. Early drop off and aftercare available.

About the provider
Schoolhouse Kitchen + Studio has been inspiring people to grow, eat, share, and learn about good food since 2012. Cheryl Knecht founded Schoolhouse Kitchen in 2017, expanded Schoolhouse to Portage Park in 2023 and Wicker Park soon after, and has received the Golden Beet Award and a spot on New City Chicago’s "Big Heat" list three times. The program also partners with schools and community groups to bring hands-on culinary programming to their communities.
