Beginners is an introductory class for those with little to no experience, focusing on basics, stretching, basic skills, proper form, and fun. Boys Gymnastics classes focus on terminology, technique, and strength needed for gymnastics as a sport, with new skills introduced based on technique and individual skill level. The gymnastics program also offers tumbling classes, summer camps, open gym, and other special activities throughout the year, and families can use a downloadable program app to access skills, communication, and more.
The gymnastics program is part of the Fox Valley Family YMCA, which is a cause-driven organization focused on Youth Development, Healthy Living, and Social Responsibility. Its stated mission is to instill Christian principles into practice through programs that build healthy spirit, mind and body. The Fox Valley Family YMCA states that it strives to never turn anyone away for their inability to pay, and scholarships are based on income and family size and cover a percentage of the cost. The organization’s leadership team includes roles such as Chief Executive Officer, VP of Athletics, VP of Youth Development, Youth & Family Director, Director of Gymnastics Operations, and Head Gymnastics Team Coach. The organization notes community involvement through community outreach programs, a Community Christmas Dinner, accepting Toys for Tots applications, handing out over 5,000 meals to children 18 and under during the height of the COVID-19 pandemic, providing over 42,000 hours of child care services for over 50 essential worker families during the height of the COVID-19 pandemic, and giving financial assistance to over 400 families.
