Ultimate Dance On the Move has been serving dancers in the West Suburbs of Chicago since June 2013, opened a pop-up dance studio in downtown Plano in September 2016 that expanded to a full running studio in January 2017, and added a pop-up Naperville dance studio in 2019. The program operates both studio classes and mobile classes held at children’s daycare centers, where mobile classes focus on creative movement through dance and include a mix of ballet, tap, hip hop, and jazz. For mobile classes, students take class in the clothes they wear to school and are not required to have specific dance clothing.
The leadership team includes CEO and Founder Cheyanne Diaz, who also serves as Director/Instructor, along with Office Administrator Miss Madi and instructors Miss Lexi, Miss Felicia, Miss McKenzie, Miss Jennifer, and Miss Morgan. Staff experience includes backgrounds in gymnastics and cheerleading, over 18 years of dance training or teaching for several instructors, technical training at multiple dance studios, leadership roles on school and college dance teams, and degrees such as a BFA in Dance Performance, a Bachelor of Arts in Dance, a B.A. in Molecular Neuroscience, a B.A. and M.S. in Nutrition and Dietetics, and a Bachelor’s degree in instrumental performance. Instructor experience also includes work with ballet companies, competitive dance, choreography for musicals, Pilates certification, and teaching ballet, hip-hop, jazz, and tumbling to ages 2–10.
The studio states that its mission is to build kids’ confidence regardless of background, experience, or initial level of confidence, and that every child who joins leaves more confident and a better dancer. It also states that it is “more than just dance,” looks for ways to inspire and motivate kids to be their best, and tells them they can achieve anything they put their minds to. Ultimate Dance On the Move describes itself as inclusively serving kids of all ages and levels, as very goal and achievement oriented, and as valuing friendship and building relationships between dancers and families, goal setting and completion, and building confidence in each dancer.
Ultimate Dance On the Move continues to grow its mobile program to daycares and schools, with mobile students performing with their center at a Winter showcase and End of the Year recital with other daycare and studio classes, unless otherwise noted. The year-end dance recital does not require an extra day for dress rehearsal, is under an hour, and is created to accommodate younger children and busy families, and the recital offers a 100% guarantee that a child will feel confident on stage. For mobile classes, weekly skill level updates are sent through email unless otherwise noted, and each week photos and videos are taken and posted into a specific album on the studio’s app that is viewable only by other students in the class.
The program offers a $10 trial class, a free special gift, and a bonus offer, and provides a happiness guarantee so families can feel confident with registration and children can experience the Ultimate Dance experience worry free. All of Ultimate Dance On the Move’s competition teams in one referenced year brought home Regional Champs.
Parent testimonials describe flexibility in switching to remote dance classes while preparing for an outdoor Summer Recital, and say that Ultimate Dance is like a family, with competition teams bringing home Regional Champs. Other parents describe teachers as caring, mention online activities such as family dance parties and story time during shutdowns, and refer to a positive atmosphere and goal-oriented approach. Testimonials also mention that mobile students enjoyed doing a recital alongside classmates from daycare, and describe the studio as a “family and home” that adapted during quarantine so dancers could continue their love of dance and grow in their skill set.
