About

Springfield Park District Youth Golf Programs include PGA Junior Golf League, Junior Golf Camps, Pasfield Fall Junior Golf League, Group Golf Lessons, and multiple youth-focused tournaments such as the Frank Coffey Memorial Jr Golf Tournament, Pasfield Parent/Child Golf Tournament, Drysdale Junior Golf Tournament, and the Hy-Vee Turkey Shootout. Junior Golf Camps cover etiquette, Rules of Golf, putting, chipping, full swing instruction, and give kids an opportunity to play in a scramble format. PGA Jr. League regular season supervised practices and matches are recreational and developmental, and during one game teams play four 9-hole matches in a two-person scramble format with coaches able to substitute players every three holes so all golfers on each team can participate.

• Ages: 6–17 years old
• Schedule: PGA Jr. League regular season runs with supervised practices and matches between May 1 and July 31; Junior Golf Camps include 9 hours of instruction; Pasfield Fall Junior Golf League runs for 7 weeks from mid-September through October; several tournaments are 2–4 day events held annually across the golf season.
• Price: $125 for ages 18 and over for the Springfield Men’s City Golf Tournament, with a discounted rate for high school eligible players.

The Springfield Park District employs certified PGA and LPGA Professionals, and Group Golf Lessons and Junior Golf Camps are taught by PGA and LPGA Professionals. Group Golf Lessons cover pre-shot fundamentals, putting, chipping, full swing, and include time on the course to learn etiquette and the Rules of Golf, plus a certificate for one nine-hole round of golf at Pasfield or Bergen Golf Course for each student. PGA Jr. League is open to boys and girls 13 and under of all abilities and brings family and friends together around team golf experiences with expert coaching from PGA and LPGA Professionals.

The Central Illinois Amateur Golf Tournament has been held as a two-day stroke play event on the first weekend in June since the early 1960s and brings together top amateur golfers in Central Illinois. The Frank Coffey Memorial Jr Golf Tournament has four age and gender divisions (Boys 8–11, Girls 8–11, Boys 12–15, Girls 12–15), flights players after the first round, and has all players competing within their flights on the final day, with every participant receiving a gift. The Pasfield Parent/Child Golf Tournament pairs a parent or grandparent with their child or grandchild in an alternate shot format, and the entry fee includes green fees, cart fees, lunch, and prizes. In the Drysdale Junior Golf Tournament, Day 1 is stroke play, and players are then flighted and compete in match play for the rest of the four-day tournament. The Round The Town Tournament is a 36-hole, two-day, two-person event that uses multiple formats including Best Ball, Scramble, Alternate Shot, and Shamble, and the Hy-Vee Turkey Shootout is a two-day, two-person event with 9 holes per day and donated turkeys from Hy-Vee among the prizes.

Springfield Park District Youth Golf Programs operate under the leadership of Head Golf Pro Lance Flury and Director of Human Resources and Risk Management Cindy Knust-Higgins.
