About
Luddy Precollege Summer Programs include hands-on activities such as using the Python programming language to control a multiplicity of systems, robot building and competition, intelligent sound-processing, and collecting scientific data using robots. Participants interact with experts across the Luddy School while exploring topics such as Artificial Intelligence (AI), cybersecurity, 3D modeling and photogrammetry, virtual world design, strategic intelligence, cryptocurrencies, smart homes and the Internet of Things, makerspaces, technology impact on society, and designing for humans and animals. Students also work in teams to design their own projects, and the Luddy Cybersecurity Immersion Camp 2026 includes hands-on experience with popular cybersecurity tools and technology, including Wireshark and Nmap.
• Ages: 14–18 years old
• Schedule: Luddy Precollege Summer STEM Camp 2026 runs July 26–August 1; Luddy Cybersecurity Immersion Camp 2026 runs June 15–19
• Price: Luddy Precollege Summer STEM Camp 2026 program fee: $950; Luddy Cybersecurity Immersion Camp 2026 program fee: $300
A unique feature of the Luddy Precollege Summer STEM Camp 2026 is that it is a residential program for students entering grades 10–12, held in person, and no experience is necessary because participants are grouped according to skill level and given support. The Luddy Cybersecurity Immersion Camp 2026 is a week-long interactive virtual camp for students entering grades 9–12, is designed for students interested in exploring the field of cybersecurity, encourages students with little to no technical background to apply, and includes a focus on Artificial Intelligence. Precollege Summer Programs at the Luddy School of Informatics, Computing, and Engineering give high school students a way to see how the Luddy community uses and designs computational tools to solve problems in engineering, science, and society, and participants gain a broad vision for computing in the 21st century.
"One of the most exciting parts of the program was when we visited Assembly Hall and got to see the technology that’s used to capture game-time footage that’s used to analyze the basketball program. It was fascinating to see behind-the-scenes virtual reality technology and computer labs in action. I also loved meeting new students from around the country, working with Luddy faculty and staff, and spending time with current students who were our counselors!" - Meredith Fain, B.S. in Computer Science
