Learning Tree Preschool has provided early childhood education to the community for over 40 years. It was established by First United Methodist Church as a nurturing ministry to families, with a goal to serve an interdenominational community. The mission at Learning Tree Preschool is to create an atmosphere in which children can develop curiosity, independence, self-confidence, and social skills through teacher-directed and self-initiated activities using an age-appropriate curriculum and close family/child/teacher interaction. Classes are grouped together by age, with a focus on socialization, language development, fine and gross motor skills, and sensory exploration in Walking 1's to 4 years, and a stated goal in PreKindergarten to make sure every child is kindergarten ready. Learning Tree Preschool offers many events throughout the year to families and the community, including Trunk or Treat and the Art Show, which serves as a fundraiser for the Love-A-Child Scholarship.
