Every child has the right to an education is the stated mission of Brightlane Learning Academic Support Programs. The program addresses the problem of childhood homelessness with the transformative power of education and provides personalized academic support and advocacy for students experiencing housing insecurity and homelessness. Working in partnership with schools, the program offers structured, personalized academic support in small groups to K–12 students experiencing homelessness and housing insecurity, including community-based programs in shelters and community centers. The program offers academic enrichment and social emotional learning, including hands-on calming activities, performance, and art experiences throughout the year, and provides transportation support and enrollment assistance to help families experiencing homelessness overcome access barriers. The program’s education support team and volunteer tutors work directly with children and families and connect families to social service providers, community partners, and educational services.
