The Indianapolis Children’s Choir was founded in 1986 by Henry Leck and is under the leadership of Executive Artistic Director Joshua Pedde. Its mission is: “The Indianapolis Children’s Choir transforms lives through powerful choral experiences and music education, empowering young voices to grow, connect, and lead on stage and in the community.” Each week, the Indianapolis Children’s Choir holds 110 rehearsals and music classes and serves more than 2,500 young people.

Participants in the Indianapolis Children’s Choir represent the diversity of central Indiana with children from nearly 20 counties. The organization offers regional affiliate choirs in Boone County, at Butler University, Hamilton County, Hendricks County, and Johnson County. The Columbus Indiana Children’s Choir is a cooperative effort of the Columbus Indiana Philharmonic and the Indianapolis Children’s Choir, and the Anderson Area Children’s Choir is a division of the Indianapolis Children’s Choir. Singers from the program have performed at events such as Indiana gubernatorial and mayoral inaugurations, The Governor’s Arts Awards, the Indiana Living Legends Award Gala, the Indiana Leadership Summit, the Tenth Pan Am Games, President George W. Bush’s visit to Indiana, the Congressional Medal of Honor Memorial Dedication, Project 9/11 Indianapolis Memorial Dedication Ceremony, the Indianapolis Prize Gala, and the opening and closing ceremonies of the International Violin Competition of Indianapolis.

The Angels Sing holiday concert is broadcast each year by 13 WTHR. In 2013, the choir sang for Nobel Peace Prize Laureate and Archbishop Emeritus Desmond Tutu during his public address at Butler University. The choir performed the national anthem with Grammy-winner Kelly Clarkson at Super Bowl XLVI and has performed at major sporting events including the 100th running of the Indianapolis 500, the 2004 FINA World Swimming Championships, the NCAA Women’s Final Four Championship Game, the US Grand Prix/Formula One, the Solheim Cup International Tournament, and the Indy 500 Festival Parade.
