About

Indianapolis Spanish Place – Children's Spanish Classes and Summer Programs offers children’s classes, Saturday children’s classes, children’s private classes, and summer children’s programs focused on Spanish language. The program also offers Spanish classes at a child’s school, including an Intro to Spanish Language & Hispanic Culture, in addition to programming for children at its Rucker Rd. location and through area schools. Classes use 100% immersion taught by experienced, native instructors in small groups, with activity-based, age-appropriate activities in every class and a focus on understanding and speaking Spanish rather than memorization or a grammar book.

• Price: Group classes are $16 per hour, and private class fees can be shared with a partner or small group.

Indianapolis Spanish Place uses a carefully planned curriculum led by experienced, native instructors who conduct classes using immersion methodology, and its native staff is local, experienced, certified, and described as dedicated to providing top-notch services. The leadership team includes Directors Diana Mosquera (Colombia) and Marcela Salgar. The Indianapolis Spanish Place is part of a Midwest business that started with Ohio locations in Cincinnati in 2004, Cleveland in 2011, and Columbus in 2017. The mission of Indianapolis Spanish Place is to serve English- and Spanish-speakers with products and services that offer educational, linguistic, cultural, social, and communication benefits through Spanish instruction, translation, ESL instruction, interpretation, social networking, study abroad, and print, broadcast, and online publishing, with a stated goal of bringing people together while encouraging tolerance, understanding, and exploration of new languages, cultures, and ideas. The program partners with local schools and provides Spanish classes at different schools and preschools.

One parent, Veronica Fischer, reports that the teachers are “absolutely AMAZING,” that after one class her daughter had learned “so much,” and that classes are fun, very interactive, and keep the attention of the children. Another parent, Jenny Wagner, reports that her son began the year disliking the idea of Spanish class but, after two weeks, looked forward to the days he had Spanish and came home after every class with new words to teach the family. Preschool teacher Indya Benton describes a teacher as energetic, upbeat, patient, caring, and fun to be around, and notes that children talk about him all week, are fully attentive during class, and speak Spanish words at home.
