About
KidStrong is a science-based kids training program where kids take part in fun activities that promote balance, coordination, strength, and agility. Classes include puzzles, games, and mental challenges, along with science-based fitness games. Kids walking to age 11 tackle challenges in weekly classes led by expert coaches, and classes are described as developmentally appropriate, fun, and challenging.
• Ages: walking–11 years old
• Schedule: Each week, kids join a 45-minute class
KidStrong describes its mission as building strong, confident, high-character kids through programming specially designed by child development experts to improve kids’ emotional, mental, and physical skills. The program states that everything is based on a Whole Child Philosophy, with a focus on three pillars: Strong Character, Strong Body, and Strong Mind, and that games develop life skills like teamwork, mental toughness, and sportsmanship. It also states that games are designed to improve creativity, mental development, and problem-solving skills, and that it uses science-based fitness games that develop kids’ emotional, physical, and mental skills. KidStrong is described as a 45-minute structured program designed to support whole-child development, with a parent-focused format that brings parents into the action with front row seats.
The program notes that all coaches are certified and professional, and that coaches are specially trained, compassionate leaders who create a safe, supportive environment that lets kids thrive and keeps them motivated. KidStrong states that its programming is guided by a group of experts, child development scientists, and coaches, and lists members of its leadership and expert team including founders Matt and Megin Sharp, partner Lincoln Brown, Preschool & Kindergarten Director Patti Eubanks, Doctor of Physical Therapy Patrick Ford, and Dr. Julie Foucher, MD, Family Physician and 4x CrossFit Games Competitor. KidStrong was founded in 2015 in Lexington, Kentucky, and reports more than 160 locations serving more than 65,000 kids per week, with a proven business model that has generated success for franchisees in markets across the US and Canada, and a 100th center opening celebrated with franchisee Barb Volk in Plantation, Florida.
KidStrong states that classes are reserved for KidStrong members only. The program also offers KidStrong Camps and KidStrong Camp, where it reports that kids gain lifelong friendships, learn new skills, build confidence, and create unforgettable memories. KidStrong specifies that it does not provide medical services, does not accept insurance, and cannot guarantee that a child will learn how to fly.
Parent testimonials describe individual experiences with KidStrong. One parent from Rocklin, California, reports that their daughter attends once a week and that they have seen her confidence “skyrocket.” Another parent from Noblesville, Indiana, describes a son who was “super shy and anxious” when he started and reports that he has become more confident, saying they “cannot say enough good things” about the program. A parent from San Antonio, Texas, describes a child with a speech delay who was “behind” when joining but was motivated by the environment and is now putting effort into learning words and tasks like cooking and cleaning.
