Camp Swiftie was founded by Dr. Dana Lynne Varga, a professional singer, voice teacher, and mom of two, who serves as Camp Director. The staff includes an assistant camp director, an on-site health supervisor, a voice teacher, a dance teacher, a crafts teacher, counselors, and several special guests including a yoga teacher. Counselors must be at least 16 years old, CITs must be 15 at the time of camp, and counselors are required to love Taylor Swift and have experience working with children.
Camp Swiftie is described as a one-of-a-kind summer camp experience for kids ages 6–12 inspired by the music and magic of Taylor Swift. The program states that it celebrates creativity, self-expression, and inclusivity, and that no experience is required. It describes itself as an inclusive and affirming space where everyone is welcome, and as a safe, supportive, and affirming environment for all children, including those with special needs or disabilities. Friday showcase performances take place during the second half of camp on Fridays.
Camp Swiftie is fully licensed and complies with all regulations of the Massachusetts Department of Public Health (105 CMR 430). Registration forms and immunization records must be completed at least three weeks prior to the start of each week. Camp Swiftie is brought to families by The Empowered Musician.
The program reports that it had an “incredible (sold out) first year” of Camp Swiftie in 2025 and that it is preparing for year two. One parent from Arlington in Summer 2025 shared that their daughter “absolutely loved Camp Swiftie,” called it her favorite camp of the summer, enjoyed the singing and dancing options, and liked the big performance at the end of the week. Another parent from Boston in Summer 2025 said their often shy 12-year-old “really came out of her shell,” noted the “high-quality instruction, diverse and engaging activities and the accepting environment,” and said Camp Swiftie was high on their child’s list of favorite camps that summer. A parent from Arlington in Summer 2025 reported that their 10-year-old attended for two weeks, loved the voice and dance lessons and craft activities, and that the family was “so impressed” with the showcase performances and “blown away” by what instructors accomplished in a short time. A parent from Boston in Summer 2025 said their “little introvert” went from refusing to sing or dance in front of others to performing a solo, described each day as better than the next, and said the choreo and voice training was “top tier” and that the final performance felt like a “mini Eras tour.”
