About

The Children’s Dyslexia Centers Tutoring Program offers one-on-one tutoring that focuses on reading instruction and dyslexia remediation. Children receive individualized support using specific techniques that address reading skills.

• Ages: 6–18 years old
• Schedule: Children are tutored one-on-one twice a week after regular school hours.
• Price: Our more than 40 Dyslexia Centers in 13 states provide intervention at reduced or no charge to children from early elementary through high school who have a profile suggesting dyslexia.

The Children’s Dyslexia Centers are nationally recognized for dyslexia tutoring locations that provide intensive reading instruction for children in grades 1 through 12. The program follows an Orton-Gillingham based, multisensory structured language education (MSLE) approach, and lessons incorporate techniques that simultaneously activate sensory pathways to help children understand the written word. Children are tutored one-on-one, and all Centers fall under a single not for profit Massachusetts corporation that follows standard operational and clinical policies and procedures established by the Corporate Board of Directors. This centralization of policies and procedures is stated as a way to keep the quality of services high as the number of Centers grows.

The mission of the Children’s Dyslexia Centers Tutoring Program is to help children with dyslexia learn to read and reach their full potential, to help their families end the frustration, guilt and disruption caused by dyslexia, and to help communities by developing Children’s Dyslexia Centers to help children succeed in and out of school. For more than 25 years, Scottish Rite Freemasonry of the Northern Masonic Jurisdiction has partnered with local communities to assist children in regaining confidence and their self-esteem through proven methods of reading instruction, tutoring, and dyslexia remediation. Since its inception in 1994, the organization reports that it has changed lives with the help of professional staff, trainees, volunteers, and friends.

Over 4,200 tutors have been certified in the program’s training courses, and families and participants have shared testimonials about their experiences. One parent, Betty, stated, “I feel truly blessed to have found this program. Without it, my child would have been left behind.” A graduate named Josh said, “The big thing I have learned at the Children's Dyslexia Center is that I am not dumb. It may take me longer to read, to study, to write, but I can do it.” Another parent, Robert, described the Center as “a beacon of light in our struggle to find help for our child.” A graduate named Autumn said, “If it weren't for the Center helping me, I would not love school as much as I do now.” A tutor named Donna shared, “My training at the Children's Dyslexia Center has proven invaluable to my success in teaching these bright children with learning disabilities.”
